...drink from the tree water.
Obviously, the tree holds the attention of both cats:
Even if it's only as a dramatic backdrop. Got to know how to present yourself. (heh)
The big happening here has been Ivy's wash and trim. Like many geriatric cats, Ivy has pretty much decided that grooming is something she is not currently motivated to do. There haven't been any bad smells, but she hasn't been smoothing out the ol' fur coat. She doesn't like us to comb or brush her tummy, so she had some rather massive mats form there and on her flanks as well. Took her to the vet for a bath, comb, and trim. Luckily Ivy didn't need what the vet described as a "Lion Trim". Just got brushed out mostly, but the clippers came out for the tummy and flanks. We've got very short tummy fur, and some nice velvety-smooth spots on the hips. You can see a hint of one of the marine-cut areas is this shot of Ivy waiting for Santa.
Anyways, Ivy sems much more comfortable now, and she's much more willing to let us give her a combing. I think she heard the phrase "Lion Trim" and decided that discretion was the better part of valor.

Maddie, that is an absolutely drop dead gorgeous picture of you by the tree!!!
And at least Ivy keeping hydrated..........poor girl having to face the dreaded clippers. I have a friend with a cat like her and she has to get her shaved now & then. She had the Lion Trim this summer & really was more comfy. It's hard not to laugh, but they do have their dignity to maintain.
