Happy Thanksgiving

This has been a glorious week at Chez-Ranger.  Lady Ranger and I both seem to have finally kicked the sinus bug that's been dogging us, the weather has turned cool, the leaves are glorious and, of course, the cats are their own wonderful selves.  Ivy just got back from a check-up and the vet is quite happy with her condition.  She weighs 10 lbs 2 oz, which is a very good weight for her.  Her thyroid seems to be under control.  The Dr G feels that Ivy is stable enough now to go under anaesthesia and have a much-needed tooth cleaning and get her eyelid bump removed.  We'll let you know how that goes.  Ivy has been making herself more and more at home recently.  She's even gotten up on the bed, which has always been strictly Maddie's Territory.

Tgiving_2007_002 Ivy even took a nap with Lady Ranger while Lady was at home getting over the last of the bug.  Maddie was crashed out in the desk chair at the time, so there was no cat-conflict.  It's funny, we have two cats that are perfectly happy unless the other cat is in sight...<sigh>

Of course, Maddie is still the queen of the bed.  Here she is enjoying some recent sunshine:

Even relaxed, Maddie stays alert, knowing that Ivy could show up at any moment...

We took a walk around the neighborhood the other day, seeing what we could see.  For all of the great southeastern drought, the fall colors have been spectacular:

Tgiving_2007_019 We even found some small beauty:

Tgiving_2007_011 This is one of the hardy cyclamen plants we have growing in our back dell.  Lovely fall blooming flowers, and unique in my experience.

We hope everyone has had an enjoyable Turkey day.  the funny thing is that the only creatures who have turkey here are the cats.  We bought nice, think slices of turkey and ham for Maddie and Ivy.  There was much rejoicing.  Lady and I had our traditional Aztec Soup; a delightful squash soup garnished with fresh avocado, cheese and walnuts toasted in butter.  Lady Ranger also made fresh bread and Tres Leches cake.  Even had real cream in the after dinner coffee.  We hope that, however you spent your time, you had as enjoyable a time as we did.

Maddie chimes in...

...with her own advice.  Ranger is still down with the amazing thermonuclear sinus-bug, and turns to the lovely Maine Coon Cat for more advice on resting:

Misc_102007_003 See, if you're cold, you just put your toes under your chin and everything's all better!

Back_home_002 Of course, if you're not cold, sleeping with your tummy in the breeze helps too!

With all this good advice, I should be healthy in no time!

Just pics...

The Rangers have been sick all week.  Darn those microbes!  Here's Ivy showing us the proper response to invasion by germ:

New_ivy_004 Proper rest is important to your immune system!

And here she is waking up from a deep nap on the new dining room rug:

New_ivy_005 If you nap by the dinner table, you don't have to stress your system by walking all over the house just to get food!  See how easy it is?

Thank you, dear.  If only we'd known...
