The Best Cat-mass EVAR!

Hello all.  We hope you've all had a wonderful holiday season regardless of affiliation.  We also hope your cats have had as wonderful a time of it as Ivy has.  Chez-ranger relocated to the Ranger-in-Laws for the past week, and enjoyed the hospitality of that fine family.  Ivy was in heaven.  I'm sorry I have no pics of the Wee Tuxedo Kitty's trip yet (still waiting for the e-mail) (will get those up asap) but take my word for it:  it was like Ivy was having Christmas at the Spa.  Maddie does *not* react well to changes in venue or staff...

Chairseries_grump and *why* should I?!  hmph, grmph...

Like I said, Maddie does *not* react well to changes in venue or staff so she chose to spend most of the visit in the our bedroom  (some would say sulking, but I think she was just wigged out by the drive and the new noises).  This gave Ivy a chance to be the life of the party.  She spent as much time as she could in the midst of the family, snagging random pettings and the occasional treats, purring almost constantly.  She didn't have to worry about Maddie coming down to growl at her or surprise her so she was a surprisingly social creature.  Completely wowed the folks.  Ivy also fell in love with one of the chairs in the sun-room.  Even went tummy-up on it.  Pics will be posted as soon as I get them.  Ivy was so happy that we even offered to let the Rangers-in-Law adopt her.  We did have a moment of relief when they said they thought Ivy'd miss us too much to be happy and refused the offer, but we felt we had to make it, for the good of the cat.  Anyways, Ivy and Maddie both made the trip back home (Ivy waiting for about 80 miles before her customary in-carrier barf).  And, to tell the truth, Ivy seems happy enough here, napping tummy up on her couch again:

New_ivy_002 There's no place like home...<sigh>

We do hope she's happy here.  Goodness knows we're happy to be her humans.  and Maddie's too.  Maddie is quite happy to have things back to normal.  Holidays are cool, but she likes life to be simple and steady.

I'll close with another, old, Holiday pic.  A cat and her tree.  Happy Holiday and a wonderful New Year to you all.

We'd like to thank Mom Robyn and Mommie ML for taking over our beloved Carnival of the Cats.  As you get things sorted out, remember to count Maddie, Ivy and the Rangers in for a few hostings.  You're sure to do a great job, and you've earned the thanks of our entire, tight, community.

As a final note I'd like to thank Laurence, the founder of the CotC and the host of this week's edition, the last of 2007.  Laurence, thank you for sharing your cats with us, and thank you for enjoying ours, too.  As I've said before, you have established a connection between your family and ours, and have made many of us realize that there are others out there like us.  You're full of crap, but you've done a good thing.  Thank you.  Hope to see more of Nardo and Frisky on CotC in the new year.  Godspeed.

A Ranger Christmas

Busy has been the watch-word here at Chez-Ranger.  Gearing up for the Holiday is always joyous, but hectic.  Fortunately, Lady Ranger and I have excellent help.  Maddie and Ivy are pitching right in to keep us on schedule.

Helping_with_ornaments Here, Maddie helps us with the ornaments for the tree.

Ivy likes to help out in her own special way.

And lastly, we see the two cats trying to convince Santa that they've been good little kitties all year.

Being_good_for_santa

Of course... they have been the best of all cats.  Just not to each other.  Sigh.  But I'm sure Santa will get them something.  He's that kind of guy.

Which ever Holiday you celebrate, have a happy one, with best wishes from all here at Chez-Ranger!

Gained in Translation

You may have seen the original of this vid.   Very cute.  We could wish Maddie and Ivy got along so well... But what were the little guys saying in the original?  Now we know...

Thanks to the cats, the humans who shared them with us, and the guys on the dub.  Well done!

BedBattle

Well, it's a subdued battle, I guess.  More of a passive-aggressive sort of "I was there last!" kind of thing... Ivy has decided to assert her right to to space on the bed:

Bedbattle1 She's hopping on the bed during the day while Maddie is out and about.  Here she is hanging out on Maddies blanket on Maddie's favorite spot.  Ivy always hops up and wanders off when she know's we've seen her.  Guess she's nervous that Maddie will notice and visit the Wrath of Catzilla upon her.  Of course, that possibility doesn't seem to deter her from getting up there to begin with.

Maddie doesn't seem to mind about these incursions, as long as she doesn't actually see Ivy on her spot.  She sniffs the bed and thinks about it some, but she always makes her peace and bunks out on her blankie.  Here she is enjoying the autumn sun:

Bedbattle2 We could wish that both of our girls could enjoy the bed at the same time, but I doubt that'll ever happen.  We'll take little packets of individual happiness, though.
