Reminders of Sun

It is *not* a sunny day here at Chez-Ranger.  It's even a bit cool to be the best of proper rainy spring days.  As the cats nap in their warm fleecy spots, we look back at spring pictures past and remind ourselves of what sun is meant to be...

And, of course, a pic that foretells (I hope) some of the flowers that will be enjoying the sun later on...

Striped Sunlight

For some strange reason, striped sunlight really does it for me.  And when it shines in on the Brown Tabby Center of the Universe, I get unreasonably happy and have to start taking pictures:

Striped_sunlight What a lovely cat!

okay...I'm biased....

Striped_sunlight2 If only I were a better photographer... I think Kimberly would have done a better job.

Maddie and Ivy have been getting along better as time has gone by, but there are still hiccups in the relationship.  We may have found the proper counselor, though:  the Cat Whisperer.  Not that our girls need *counseling* or anything...they are perfectly, umm..., Perfect!  Yeah!

Smudge Sunday

Our hearts go out to the humans and Zoe.  Smudge has passed.  Prayers and purrs for you all.

It's hard to read this story.  Can't do it without tearing up.  I keep thinking about what it will be like when Ivy and Maddie finally go.  Empathy is one of the traits that make us truly human, but gosh it sucks sometimes.

And thanks to Russ, for his kind words about my words.

Time-Share, Part 2

Back during the summer Maddie and Ivy learned to Time Share the SunPuddle.  Just recently, Ivy has rediscovered an old favorite; the papasan chair.  This is what you see as you sit across the room:

Papasan_war2 Here's the view from above:

Papasan_war1 Still kinda hard to tell which end is which, huh?  Anyway, Ivy has been spending a lot of time snoozing in the chair, and LadyRanger and I have been afraid that Maddie would get all miffed and be aggressive.  Again.

Papasan_war3 If this is aggressive, we can live with it.  I don't know how they do it, but they do work time-shares out nicely sometimes...

Let Me In

Remember the Wake-Up-Cat?  Well, here's the long-awaited sequal, brought to you by Simon Tofield of Tandem Films.  And since YouTube isn't always the best about information on the creators, here's the Official Channel for Simon's Cat.  Go there.  Subscribe.  Let's encourage this guy.

Many thanks to Dark Roasted Blend for the original link!  I think that, if we ever let her out, Maddie would act just like this trying to get back in.

Leap Day!

Okay...in honor of Leap Day I was going to post a pic of one of the ranger-cats leaping.  It turns out that they don't do that.  Maddie's more of a pounce-girl than a leaper and Ivy's fifteen years old and is well past her prime leaping days.  Guess we're stuck with an old pic of Maddie pouncing:

Pounce Ha!  Gotcha!

Leap Day is welcome here at Chez-Ranger.  It's our anniversary!  Lady-Ranger and I celebrate either our 4th or our 16th anniversary, depending on how we feel about things at any given moment.  It was a lovely day, spent in our home playing with the cats, and with a delightful dinner at our local Italian place.  Couldn't have asked for a better day!  We're all looking forward to the next one.

And the aftermath of the happy day?  Someone had herself a mighty nap:

Closeup_maddie_naps Dreaming of leaping?  Nah.  Just more pouncing...
