All at ChezRanger wish all of you the happiest of new years. Two thirds of the Chez are happy to see the end of 2012. Not the shiniest of years, really. We're hoping for an easier year this time, despite the fact the last two digits of the designation are '13'. What does the most important third of the family think about a new year?
I'm unimpressed, thus far. But, as long as there are sunpuddles, brushies, turkey and spreadable cheese, I think I'll be fine. Oh, and NO NEW CATS. Got it?
Don't let her stoic demeanor fool you. She has lots of enthusiasm for what's around her. My mom gave Maddie a catnip boomerang. What's really funny is that the 'rang stays put and Maddie keeps returning to *it*. Here's a poor quality pic of the cat at play:
Actually, the first thing Maddie did upon our return from the Winter Palace (the Ranger-in-laws) was to knock the gift bag containing this 'rang off the coffee table, destroy it, and begin the serious playing with the new toy. Quite the successful gift!
We had a lovely First-Saturday-of-the-New-Year-Dinner last night, to celebrate. Shrimp Etouffe!
Even got the rice looking right (unlike last time). I feel *so* accomplished when I make this.
We here hope that you there have a wonderful year.
Score! Glad the boomerang received approval-plus from the furry head of household.

Thanks for the comments about the Cat Wars at our place. Haven't posted it yet but we're going to drug up Patches with kitty prozac and hope to break the cycle.
Maddie have fun with that toy! It looks to be most excellent!
