We have had quite the weekend here at ChezRanger.
We got caught in the Great SouthEast Blizzard! Yeah, two inches of snow constitutes a blizzard in these here parts. It was a very wet and heavy snow, in it's defense...we lost power for about 6 hours Friday eve. We did pretty well. Had the fireplace chugging out therms as best it could. Broke out all the candles. Had quite a romantic evening. Might even have had a bit of wine, too. There was one small mishap, though. Daisy sniffed at a candle. No damage was done, but a very surprised little kitten lost some of her eyebrow whiskers!
My beauty is unmarred!
Most of what you can see here are her left eyebrow plumage. If you look closely over her right eye, you can see the remaining, charred stump of her right eyebrow. She was quite miffed, but there was no other damage done. She doesn't seem to be inconvenienced by this, either. We'll have to keep an eye on her when there are candles about, but she seems to have learned about safe observation distances.
The big issue over this weekend was that once the power came back on, the furnace didn't. We called it in, tucked ourselves under many blankets and went to sleep. It was 60 degrees in the house when we woke up. Daisy didn't seem to mind at all.
I just sit in the sun to keep warm!
I don't think she realizes that we don't have natural fur coats to keep us warm... Anyways, the furnace guy came in, did the simplest of jiggery-pokery, charged us a reasonable amount of money and took his leave.
Really, we came through the weekend unscathed, save for some important plans that had to be put off for a week.
And Daisy was a very good cat through it all.
