It's been another cat filled week here at Chez-Ranger. Ivy went to the vet this week for a check-up and some blood work. Her red count is back up to normal, and her white count is only slightly elevated (we think it's because she's got a kitty head-cold). Ivy now weighs 8lbs 9oz., up from a hair under 7lbs when we found her. The vet looked at her and cooed "Is this the cat I'd given up for dead?" The official word is that Ivy is now "thriving".
Ivy spends most of her time looking out the window, sleeping by the window, eating and (when we've gott he doors open to the rest of the house) looking over her shoulder to see if Catzilla is coming. Ivy's also done a bit of playing with a little catnip pillow we got for her. She continues her love affair with vanilla ice cream.
Maddie has also continued to thrive. She's still a bit miffed about having Ivy around. Maddie has come in the sitting room to sniff and explore and has done some hissing and growling at Ivy. Maddie has even, when Ivy is on the desk behind the printer and out of sight, hissed at Ivy's bed and her food bowl. Sometimes I think Maddie needs glasses. Maddie continues to be a very sweet and loving cat in the other rooms.
What's odd to me is that Maddie mostly seems more nervous than aggressive. She'll come in, sniff around, then hiss and run away. I find it hard to believe that she's scared of little Ivy, so I guess there's something else going on. I hope we all figure it out soon. Maddie doesn't come in to nap while we watch TV anymore. We miss that. She still sleeps with us and eats treats from my hand, and hasn't inflicted more than the usual amount of cat-stigmata on me, though. She still lets us know that we're loved.
get comfort zone from feliway! it works! I used it when we moved and when I brought home out kitten and my very nervous cat only took a record 4 days to start playing with the kitten!
