It seems like we're getting to the end of the summer season here at Chez-Ranger. Not in terms of temperature or sticky, sweaty humidity, but in terms of those human (and feline) activities that define the warm season.
I've finished the last of my season's schedule of triathlons. I staggered across the line of the Endurance Challenge Triathlon yesterday. Great event with a great course. And let's not forget the great post-race snacks. Middle-aged beginners like me really appreciate that sort of thing.
LadyRanger and I have put in an order for a half cord of firewood and are looking for a wood rack. I hope we'll all be snoozing in front of the fire of a weekend soon:
Maddie provides us with an example of how it should be done...
One big concern we have is that Maddie and Ivy haven't made their peace with each other yet. We really want Maddie and Ivy to be able to share the same room without fisticuffs (or fistipaws as it may be). There hasn't been any physical violence for a while, but Maddie looks at Ivy and makes the same chattering sound she makes when she looks at birds. I'm afraid that if the Mrs and I weren't packing spray bottles, things would end up messy. Does anyone out there have any experience with Rescue Remedy? Agnes recommended it, but we haven't tried it yet. We've tried Feliway without significant effect on cattitude, though it did seem to help Ivy settle in to her room. In any event, we want Ivy to feel free to rest her aged bones in front of the fire like this:
Anyway, with luck we'll have the girls a bit more congenial by the time the leaves look like this:
We are seeing hints of the season changing too. Much cooler at night. The geese are starting to congregate for their trip south. Some leaves are starting to turn color too. But mom says that darn grass still needs mowing!!!
