News for all you Ivy fans out there...
We took GrannyCat to the vet last week 'cause the bump on her eyelid (seen below) was looking strange.
It didn't seem to be giving her any trouble, but it looked very irritated, so we decided we would rather be safe than sorry.
The vet gave us a couple of possible causes, from simple "old cat bump" to cancer, either benign or malignant. He didn't feel that it was a major problem, and since it hasn't grown much if at all since we've had Ivy, it's probaly not much to worry about. He did give us the option of having a slice of her eyelid removed (which is apparently not too traumatic) but we rejected the idea (after getting real queasy about the whole thing) since it doesn't appear to be a dangerous bump. The vet prefers not to do it because it would require general anasthesia, and he's uneasy about that with a cat Ivy's age. So we're all leaving well enough alone.
We were given some antibiotic to give Ivy for her chronic sneezes, which *have* gotten worse recently. I have to give her a dropper full of the stuff twice a day which she hates, but the sneezing and very wet slurpy burbling has tailed off.
Ivy now weighs 10 pounds. Who'da thunk it back in april when we found her?
