The Best Presents...

...drink from the tree water.

don't ask me why, with 2 bowls of fresh water in the house, and the knowledge that she has only to hop on her stool and meow for more, Maddie chooses to drink from the tree water.  Must be the fresh, piney, flavor....

Well, the Big Snow of '09 has come and gone, though traces linger:

Okay, a bit more than traces, though we didn't get hit like DC and other points north.  Looks like somethings been on a walkabout!

So, no, not Maddie...  Our girl has been enjoying the Tree:

 
Who needs anything else under the tree?  Not I. 

If we decide Maddie needs to get in touch with her Maine Coon Heritage, we'll take pics and post from the emergency room.

I'd also like to report on another lovely dinner.  LadyRanger and I made Tortillitas with Shrimp!  Got the recipe from this guy.  If you enjoy a good food, this is worth watching!

 

Here's a link to the recipe in a written down form.  It is a really tasty, savory dish.  I was really impressed that our tortillitas looked just like the ones Mr. Bittman made.  *Quite* cool.  And really, really tasty.  (note:  I did not try to flip the tortillitas the cool way.  Didn't want to eat off the floor.  Didn't seem to detract...)

Miss Maddie, not being a seafood girl, was unimpressed.

 Meh.  Let me know when you make it with turkey.  *That's* when I'll wake up.

A final note:  Mr. Bittman has something like 70 episodes of his show on YouTube, as well as an archive on the NYT website.  Worth a look.  Lady and I already have plans to make his Pear-Upside-Down Cake.  We'll let you know how it goes!
