I suppose it's to be expected, but Maddie has Had It. Completely. She is quite tired of life in the Mewlag.
She's pretty okay with it for a few hours and then goes bonkers, meowing up a storm and pacing about, pawing at the bars. It's worst when we're doing something in another part of the house. She wants to come out and supervise, or just nap where *she* wants to nap, I think. I've been quite impressed with her intelligence recently, 'cause she doesn't just paw at the bars. She goes after the latches.
See? She's trying to work the bottom latch. Doesn't quite have the hang of it, which is good. She hasn't investigated the top latch, so that one might hold if she manages to pop the bottom one. I think we'll be okay, but she's and awfully smart cat.
We've got an appointment with the surgeon on Tuesday to check up on how Maddie's healing. We think she's doing well, but hey, what do we know? We're hoping to be able to take the collar off and go back to Maddie's usual brand of litter (we're using a recycled-newspaper brand...vet says it doesn't stick to incisions as much as regular. None of us likes it). We'll let you know what's up. In the meantime...here's a word from Maddie for all of her fans:
HEEEELP!! Call Amnesty International! CALL PETA!!!!!! Send me a kitty-treat with a file in it! Something!!! Let MEEEOOOOWWWWT!
We are coming Maddie to help you get out of the MewLag!! Hopefully all gets back to normal soon!!
Howdy from your TX furiends,

Aw :(
Wish I could do something to help! But truly, it's like with children. One needs to be firm, but it's very, very painful for all parties involved.
I hope everything works out well. And quickly, too!

Maddie, how awful for you!
We know you want your sunspots and the bed and the back of the couch back not the MewLag. You are a smart girl and we think if you keep at it you just might break your jailers resolve.
Meanwhile, we are working on making a giant wheel of Laughing Cow and inserting a file and/or a skeleton key into it. Hang in there!
