Did some Christmas shopping yesterday. Stayed far, far away from the Mall. Still awfully tired. Did manage to get a couple of perfect gifts though.
First off, we got all the necessary items for LadyRanger's yummy yummy fruitcake! Hah! I hear your scoffing! But this is not the sodden log of filler that most fruitcakes are. This is a delicious, spicey, fruit-and-nut-laden cake soaked in apple juice and brandy. A delight to the tastebuds. And hey, Maddie endorses the ingredients. Not everything we bring home gets the cheek-rub of approval.
The other item we brought home that won rave reviews was....Paper.
This butcher paper wrapped a couple of cheap restaurant wine glasses (for which we confess a fondness). Maddie immediately claimed it as her own. The paper has been at the foot of the bed all night. Thus, everytime our cat changed position or got up to go on cat-patrol, we heard it. Worth the sleep disturbance to let her have soemthing she loves. Paper. On the blanket stack. In the sun-puddle. How is that a bad plan?
Begone. Your camera-y thingie harshes my vibe. I'm resting on paper. On the blanket stack. In the sun-puddle. I'll attend to you later.
I'll try to get a pic of her in a new box soon, but it's charms are not as great as that of the paper. Who knew?
We've had some lovely crinkly sheets of packing paper at our house too! And several wonderful boxes from Amazon (no mall for us either!) Your fruitcake sounds intriguing except for the nuts, which I'm allergic to. The brandy soaking sounds excellent! I have an elderly friend who makes rum balls this time of year. She says the original recipe is too short on the rum, so she doubles it! She's a hoot!

Now I'm hungry, that and overcome with the desire to pet Maddie. Paper is the best, one can have hours of fun with it especially the lightweight tissue paper used for gifts. Kitties do love the stuff.

Ranger I don't have an email for you so I will thank you for your kind words of support here. I took heavy medication on a very empty stomach and it would have been very easy to just lie down on the floor while the world spun out from under me.I hadn't even realized I hadn't eaten that day. I managed to get to the kitchen and get a glass of milk & a little toast. I was alone and that scared the s--- out of me. I have a couple of excellent people helping me now. Blessing to you and a gentle tummy rub to dear Maddie. -Lynne

Your cat Maddie looks very adorable. Christmas shopping is always tiring, no matter where you shop or how much time you spend. But I realized that it is also fun and uplifting, especially after seeing my nieces and nephews enjoy the gifts they received.
