Friday, May 25, was Daisy's second birthday!
Daisy share a birthday with several famous people. Both Edward Bulwer-Lytton ("it was a dark and stormy night") and Ralph Waldo Emerson ("write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year") were born on that day in 1803. Beverly Sills was born to sing, which I consider appropriate, since Daisy is a very vocal girl.
From the world of athletics comes Brian Urlacher, Hall of Fame linebacker for the Chicago Bears. Daisy certainly shares his wild abandon when she gets on the field of play. Olympic Gold Medalist Aly Raisman also shares Daisy's birthday. Daisy already tries any number of gymnastics as we play. She usually does well, but there are times she needs to stick the landings. Ah well, she's young yet.
From the world of acting come Sir Ian McKellan and Ray Stevenson. I can think of no human being in this world less like Daisy than Sir Ian. Really. Polar opposites. I mean no disrespect toward either, but jeez....imagine all the calm, collected dignity that is Ian McKellan and then know that Daisy, wonderful, lovable kittenish Daisy, has none of it. The only real connection I see there is that Gandalf was gray. Like Daisy.
Now, Ray Stevenson? I love this guy. He's the fellow who played Titus Pullo in Rome. Cheerful, competent, live-for-the-day borderline psychopath. I've always put Titus Pullo way high on my list of fictional characters you want on your side come the apocalypse. Way high. I suppose Daisy is at least as high on my list of real creatures I want on my side.... Turns out Ray Stevenson also portrayed The Punisher. I find that quite appropriate since Daisy seems to be sent from on high to punish mice and bats. Really, she's a killer. And she brings Pullo's cheerful abandon to the field of battle.
Enough of my ramblings. How did we celebrate? Toys! We got Daisy a catnip fishie!
Die! DIE!!
Yeah, I think this is a hit.
We also got her a new toy-on-a-stick. She likes these a lot.
HI-YAH! THIS IS HOW I CATCH BATS!!!!
She'll drag her stick toys around the house if we're not actively playing with them.
Any room is the right room to play in.
And she really commits to the game. She is going to get that tassel.
After an exhausting play session, Daisy settled down for a nap in one of her favorite spots. The undershirt drawer.
This does not suck
Don't worry, I didn't use the flash more than once. She had some peace to relax.
We gave her treats, some deli chicken (sorry Tabbies!) and some venison food (which is her co-favorite along with tuna food). I'm not an expert in judging cat matters, but it seems like a good enough day.
We're hoping for many more birthdays to come!
