Daisy is still quite the kitten in a lot of ways. She is chock-full of energy and playful spirit. She has never turned down a play session. In fact, she most often initiates them. Lady Ranger and I will be sitting, chatting, and this cat will drag a toy into the room and up on the couch with us. She brings catnip mice, balls, toys on sticks, even. Once she brought a dead mouse.
Here she is, carrying a toy on a long, golden, elastic string:
C'mon buddy! This toy ain't shakin' itself, y'know!!!
Special note on this toy. It belonged to Tabby, the cat-in-law at the Winter Palace. Daisy and Tabby did not interact peacefully. Daisy was all polite curiosity, initially, but Tabby would have none of her. Daisy retaliated by stealing toys and bringing them to our room. I figure it was the feline equivalent of counting coup. After the deaths of LadyRanger's folks, Tabby moved out to DC to live with LR's sister. TAbby has since crossed the bridge so, when Daisy resumed her love affair with this toy we figured it wouldn't hurt anyone to bring it home.
Daisy loves this toy. In these pics, she's brought it to me, dragging it on to the computer desk, interrupting my web surfing. I could not refuse.
She takes her play very seriously.
She has dropped her kittenish habit of talking all through her playing. She's much quieter now, as she plays.
Of course, any athlete knows that rest is a part of training, so we sometimes see our gray, furry ball of energy resting.
Not much, and not for long, but it happens.
We hope you have a week full of energy and rest, in appropriate proportions.
