LadyRanger and I went to the zoo again a while back. We had some specific creatures we wanted to see and we were at least partly successful! We got to see the southern end of a north napping Sandcat!
This is Nala, the female member of the pair, her mate being the oft-pictured Cosmo. Nala was anchored to this log. She seemed to be guarding it. Why? It contained treasure!!
SANDKITTENS! Two of the wee beasties tucked inside the log. Apparently they were in the "crashed-kitten" phase of the morning. We had word that they were in the "psycho-kitten" phase just minutes before we arrived. We'd been hoping to see cute little faces, but wee tiny napping behinds with hints of ears-to-grow-into will do us just fine.
We didn't get to see the many red wolf pups. they are keeping them sequestered. Zoo folks don't want them getting comfortable around humans because they may be designated for reintroduction to the wild. We have to stifle our disappointment and allow for the excellent reason.
