Daisy like to find vantage points from which to survey her domain. We don't have many high points in our charming little 1935 bungalow. In Daisy's estimation, the best spot upon which to be high is the fridge.
I can see the world from here!
And no, she doesn't grapple her way up the fridge-clutter. She leaps onto the adjoining counter and then pops up onto the windowsill behind the fridge. She originally got up there to eat parts of LadyRanger's plant. This season we finally gave it a nylon bag that offers some protection from our occasionally herbivorous cat.
Daisy looks down upon us as we go about our kitchen business. When we're not there? She gazes out onto her backyard queendom.
I'ma get out there one day and knock down all those stupid birds. Right outta the air. Yessireebob!
We'll let you know if the plant survives the winter.
Have a great week ahead, all!

Daisy is a very active cat. She is a participant in all aspects of our lives, especially the part where we eat cheese or vanilla ice cream. She's quite interested in those events. She helps around the house, whether I'm making the bed or LadyRanger is sewing. Daisy particularly likes helping LR lay out patterns for cutting. Her assistance is always necessary to get the proper alignment of pattern pies on the fabric!
Daisy does have a calm, quiet, contemplative side, though. We're seeing more of it as she matures. She loves, loves, loves a good play, but she also loves a bit of time to herself to watch the world go by. Here she is, in one of her new favorite windows, enjoying the bird and squirrel show in the side yard.
What does she think as she gazes upon the wildlife out in the wide world?
I have reason to suspect that the squirrels are mocking me.
Don't worry dear, they mock everyone...
Daisy has also taken to imagining herself as a wild forest creature instead of the pampered and love house cat she is. What helps her achieve these flights of fancy? Why, her big green friend, the Christmas tree, of course! She sits and watches our small world go by from her forest perch. What does she think?
My heart will always be free.
That's our wild little Daisy....ten tons of teeth in a ten pound package. How could we ever hope to tame her?
Have a great week ahead, all!

the Livingroom and Sitting room of our house face the rising sun. The back of the couch is the favored spot for kitties wanting to catch some rays and see the world. We've a porch roof over the sitting room windows so it's a good bit darker in there. Sometimes, however, with clear skies and open shades we can have a brief period of cat-worthy sunlight.
wha'chu lookin' at?
Daisy is on her latest cat toy. Otherwise known as our new desk chair, this new toy seems to have found favor as a scratching post and nap location. It's also a good place from which to scope out the front porch.
What's that?!? A squirrel? Leaves? Better not be one of those neighbor cats!!
That's Daisy for you. Always alert, whether it's braving the noonday sun, or staring, like a gunfighter, into the low sun off the porch.
Have a great week ahead all!

It has been an odd couple of weeks. We had a bit of a computer scare. Our hard drive gave up the ghost! It was a newer SSD and ghost-surrendering is not a common occurrence with these. LadyRanger and I were rather worried that we'd lost some of our most treasured pics of Maddie and Ivy! Our local Computer Wizards read the auguries, consulted the sacred flocks and got us back up and running with no loss of digital memories! I am always happy that there are people out there who know more than I do about stuff.
Daisy is very relieved that you will get your accustomed Daily Dose of Daisy! She was afraid that you would have all worried yourselves into anemia without your weekly update on how she is doing. She understands how important she is to you and wants to support your good health with regular measures of the US RDA of Daisy! Or, should you be a nocturnal user of the internet, (and apologies for paraphrasing the Bard) a little touch of Daisy in the night......
I told her that you'd all be fine. I told her that not only did you have the vast realm of the internet to temporarily sustain you, your own personal cats would keep you safe from harm!
Her response?
Oh, please....
Daisy is, as you can see, a past master of the skeptical look.
I do hope this post finds you well, and that it spurs you on to great things in the week ahead!

No one here at ChezRanger holds down the spooooookyyyyy black cat demographic nearly so well as our wee tuxie, Ivy!
Boo!
A truly terrifying sight! What do you think her favorite Hallowe'en costume was? That's right! A LION!
RAWR!
Though, perhaps it was an '80's lion, rocking some serious Flashdance leg warmers.....
Maddie, for all of her manifold gifts, never quite got the spooooookyyyyy part of Hallowe'en....
I don't get it........
No, Hallowe'en has ever been Ivy's time to take center stage. For 3 years, she kept the Hallowe'en vigil with us. For 100 more, she will keep it in our hearts. And how did she celebrate when her spooooookyyyyyy duties were done? With her favorite treat, a little dish of Hagen Daz vanilla ice cream!
I'm not saying the words. Not even allowing a trick as an option. You can not fool this wise old kitty....
Tricking Ivy was never an option.
Have a great week ahead, all!

This is the time of year that we welcome back everyone's favorite seasonal phenomenon: the SunPuddle!
The sunpuddle appears in mid-October, but isn't fully ripe until the leaves are fallen. We can still enjoy a bit of early light, though. And we can enjoy it even more with a cat firmly ensconced in it. I present to you; Daisy!
What?
She was very patient with me as I snapped photos....
Ignore the clown with the camera, ignore the clown with the camera, ignore the clown w...........
She can see a decent bit of the outside from her spot on the bed.
Target Lock Acquired!
I think the sunlight brings out nice colors in Daisy's eyes.
I think you mean to say that my eyes bring out the nice colors in the sunlight, right?
Of course, dear....
When Daisy is quite happy and relaxed, we often get a stretchy-cat.
Those fearsome claws can get caught in the bedspread....
On purpose! On purpose!
And, since it's our lovely little grey predator, there has to be a wee bit of a threat display. Look at that fang!
Darn Tootin'! Gotta make sure that if any of those outside animals are lookin' in they know this house is defended! Can't have 'em gettin' ideas!
And that's it for this week. Have a great week ahead, all!!
